United Airlines Upgrades Airbus A319 Cabins with New Seats and Screens

United Airlines is currently retrofitting its Airbus A319 fleet with upgraded cabins as part of its United Next program. The program aims to elevate the customer experience and modernize its domestic fleet.

The revamped first-class seats are designed to provide passengers with enhanced comfort and privacy. They feature reclining cushions, adjustable headrests, and small wings that provide extra support. Additionally, these seats are equipped with power outlets and USB ports for device charging.

High-definition seatback screens are now available in every seat, offering an array of entertainment options, including Bluetooth connectivity, live TV, and on-demand movies. Passengers can control the touch-sensitive screens with a remote or their personal devices. These screens are powered by Panasonic Avionics’ eX3 system, which is also used on United’s Boeing 787 Dreamliner fleet.

Larger overhead bins have been installed to accommodate more carry-on bags, reducing the need for gate-checking. The bins feature a sleek design and user-friendly latch mechanism.

United Airlines has incorporated new LED lighting to create a pleasant and relaxing atmosphere onboard. The lighting adjusts its colors and brightness levels based on the time of day and flight phase. United Airlines plans to complete the retrofit of its 80 Airbus A319 aircraft by 2025.
