United Airlines (UA, Chicago O’Hare) and American Airlines (AA, Dallas/Fort Worth) have completed repairs on B737 MAX aircraft grounded over an electrical problem as Boeing resumed deliveries of the type last week, Reuters reports. Boeing last week sent affected carriers service bulletins on how to address the production issue that could have interfered with some critical systems after the fixes were approved by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The manufacturer also resumed deliveries of the B737 MAX on May 19, 2021, following FAA approval of the fix, a person in the know told Reuters. This follows after Boeing, in early April, recommended to 16 customers that they address a potential electrical issue in a specific group of B737 MAX aircraft before further operations. United told Reuters it had completed repairs on seventeen B737 MAXs, while American Airlines said it had completed repairs on fourteen of eighteen of the type in its fleet. According to the ch-aviation fleets advanced module, United operates forty B737-9s while American operates forty-one B737-8s.
