United launches aircraft technician apprenticeship program

United announced the launch of Calibrate, a 36-month apprenticeship program that aims to train more than 1,000 new Aircraft Maintenance Technicians by 2026, with a goal of half of the participants being women or people of color. The program is a “earn and learn” structure so participants get paid while completing their certification and training process. “This program will provide life-changing opportunities, help to diversify our workforce and give us access to an even bigger pool of talented, qualified, motivated people,” said Rodney Luetzen, United’s vice president of line maintenance.
