United Nigeria Airlines (UN, Enugu) is set to bolster its domestic capacity by introducing a wet-leased A320-200 from Bulgaria’s Fly2Sky (F6, Sofia). The wet-lease agreement, effective from mid-October to March 31, 2024, aims to strengthen United Nigeria Airlines’ operations during the IATA winter season.

The leased aircraft, registered as LZ-FSA with manufacturer serial number 4247, will be stationed in Nigeria and primarily operate on domestic routes. This strategic collaboration is expected to enhance winter operations support for United Nigeria Airlines, offering increased flexibility and capacity.

Fly2Sky’s Chief Commercial Officer, Aleksandrs Gusevs, expressed enthusiasm about bringing the Airbus A320 to Nigeria, highlighting the collaboration as an expansion of business and a commitment to strengthening ties with partners in the African continent.

United Nigeria Airlines’ Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer, Osita Okonkwo, recently announced the airline’s plans to diversify its fleet by acquiring Airbus widebodies. The carrier has obtained approval to operate intercontinental flights to airports in six countries, including Houston Intercontinental (US), London Heathrow (UK), Amsterdam Schiphol (Netherlands), Rome Fiumicino (Italy), Dublin International (Ireland), and Dubai International (UAE).

In addition to the wet-leased A320, United Nigeria Airlines anticipates the delivery of two E190s in the fourth quarter of 2023, with ten E175s expected to join the fleet in batches within the next 24 months. The airline’s current in-house fleet comprises four EMB-145LRs.
