United Resumes Washington–Vail Flights After Six-Year Gap

United Airlines is reviving a long-dormant route this winter, reconnecting Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) with Vail/Eagle County Regional Airport (EGE) in Colorado for the first time since March 2019.
Starting December 20, United will operate nonstop weekly service every Saturday between the two destinations, using a Boeing 737-700 aircraft. The seasonal route is scheduled to run through April 4, 2026, catering to winter travelers heading to Colorado’s ski resorts.
With this addition, Vail now offers flights to all seven of United’s mainland U.S. hubs, officially making it part of the airline’s “7-Hub Club.” United already operates service to Vail from Chicago O’Hare, Houston, Denver, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Newark.
“We are thrilled to welcome United Airlines’ new service to Washington Dulles,” said David Reid, director of aviation at Eagle County Regional Airport. “This route is a testament to the strong demand for direct access to our incredible mountain communities and significantly strengthens our connectivity to the East Coast.”
The new Washington–Vail route complements another seasonal relaunch. United will also resume Saturday-only service between Washington Dulles and Jackson Hole, Wyoming, beginning December 20. That route will also be served by a Boeing 737-700, according to Cirium Diio schedule data.
These route resumptions highlight United’s strategy of boosting winter travel options to popular mountain destinations from key East Coast and Midwest hubs. Travelers looking for easy access to premier ski resorts will benefit from increased connectivity and convenience during peak travel months.
