UPS invests to rev up delivery speeds

UPS has launched the Total Service Plan initiative in the US that is designed to boost precision and predictability for its 60,000 drivers and reduce idle time. Company officials say they are also slowly expanding the use of radio frequency identification device tags to all daily shipments to prioritize packages and eliminate time-consuming manual scanning, and incorporate more package density at the front of customer supply chains while maintaining service-level agreements.
