HHM’s purchase of Urgo Hotels & Resorts increases the Philadelphia-based firm’s 30,000-room portfolio by about 30% and reflects a general growth in mergers and acquisitions by third-party hotel managers. “The smaller companies are finding it difficult to compete against these giants and are teaming up to offer more to hotel owners,” lodging journalist Alan Woinski says.
