US airlines forecast strong holiday travel demand

US airlines are prepared to welcome millions of travelers this holiday season. United Airlines projects it will carry an average of 420,000 passengers per day from Dec. 16 to Jan. 3, about 87% of pre-pandemic volume, and Delta Air Lines said it expects to fly a total of at least 7.8 million passengers between Dec. 17 and Jan. 3.
