US airlines salute service members on Veterans Day
US airlines marked Veterans Day with special events and salutes to their ongoing programs for veterans and active service members. American Airlines flew 90 veteran and active duty service members from Washington, D.C. to Las Vegas for its annual Salute to the Troops event, a flight operated by an all-veteran crew on the airline’s Flagship Valor aircraft. Delta Air Lines held its 11th Annual Veterans Appreciation Event earlier in the month, featuring military aircraft flown by Delta pilots who serve in the Reserve or National Guard. Alaska Airlines took veterans on an Honor Flight to Hawaii, JetBlue unveiled a refreshed aircraft commemorating veterans and Southwest Airlines celebrated its partnership with Challenge Aspen’s Military Opportunities program, which serves veterans and active-duty military members with a service-connected disability.
