US DOD extends cargo contract eligibility of 11 airlines
The Directorate of Acquisitions of the US Transportation Command has extended eleven airlines’ eligibility for cargo contracts on behalf of the US military by another year, through January 31, 2022. The eleven carriers have been made eligible to compete on a task-order level for contracts worth an estimated USD34.7 million between February 2021 and January 2022, under the optional procedure included in the original indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity, fixed-price contract. The eligible airlines include American Airlines, ATI – Air Transport International, Atlas Air, Delta Air Lines, FedEx Express, Hawaiian Airlines, National Airlines, Polar Air Cargo, UPS Airlines, USA Jet Airlines, and Western Global Airlines. The military is buying capacity from those carriers rather than chartering the whole aircraft under this contract. The contract covers worldwide door-to-door pick-up and delivery, transportation, in-transit visibility, government-approved third party payment system participation, and expedited customs processing and clearance for the movement of regular and recurring goods, including hazardous and refrigerated goods, and medical supplies.
