Use of South Portland, Maine, hotels for homeless extended

Two South Portland, Maine, hotels whose owners had sought to cease housing homeless people will continue to do so as city officials have been unable to find alternatives. Plans call for continuing the city’s arrangement with the Days Inn and Comfort Inn properties, with added support and security, until a new shelter opens early next year.
