Breeze Airways has announced it will open a new base at Hartford Bradley airport, adding eight new non-stop destinations to its network from the city.

The carrier did not provide a detailed timeline for the opening or the number of aircraft to be based out of the Connecticutian gateway. It said that the new destinations would be unveiled in early March 2022 and that the base would create more than 200 direct local jobs.

Hartford Bradley was one of the three destinations served by Breeze Airways on its first day of operations in May 2021. Currently, the carrier connects the city to Charleston, SC (daily with an E195), Columbus John Glenn, OH, Norfolk Int’l, VA, and Pittsburgh Int’l (4x weekly with an E190 each), the ch-aviation schedules shows. Starting in June 2022, the airline plans to operate all four routes with A220-300s.

Hartford Bradley, the largest airport in Connecticut, is not currently a base to any scheduled carriers. The airlines with the largest market share by scheduled departure capacity at the airport are JetBlue Airways (23.5%) and American Airlines (21.5%).
