US’s Evolution Airways Expands Citation Fleet, Eyes ERJs, CRJs

Evolution Airways is expanding its fleet with additional Citation jets and plans to add Embraer ERJs and Bombardier CRJs to support its semi-private aviation model. The Florida-based operator recently inducted its first Citation II, a 42.7-year-old N70KB, and plans to acquire another Citation 550 and two Citation 560s.
Founder Jonathan Houdyschell told ch-aviation that the company chose the Citation family for its affordability, availability of parts, and compatibility with pilot training and maintenance. “It’s like a Chevy or Ford,” he said, noting that despite their age, the jets have been refurbished in 2025 and are maintained by Jetstream Aviation Solutions.
Evolution aims to make business aviation accessible to new users. “We’re targeting people who have never used private aviation,” Houdyschell said, describing plans to offer seats at prices comparable to premium economy. Evolution’s longer-term goal is to shift to newer aircraft for operational efficiency.
The company plans to develop a network of scheduled semi-private flights, targeting space industry clusters in Florida, Texas, and Arizona. It currently partners with the Space Coast Executive Jet Center in Titusville and serves clients in the space and energy sectors.
Looking ahead, Evolution plans to add ERJ-145s or CRJ-200s configured for semi-private service. Houdyschell emphasized a flexible, crowdsourced booking model similar to JSX, offering affordable access to private aviation.
“We’re creating infrastructure—not just charter flights—but a scalable, hybrid platform for enterprise and leisure travelers,” he said, noting that enterprise demand offers long-term economic resilience.
