US’s Sherpa Air takes first Dash 8-300
Sherpa Air (Georgetown, SC), the newly established aviation wing of military logistics contractor Sherpa6, took delivery of its first DHC-8-300 earlier this month.
N333EN (msn 221) is a 31.3-year-old turboprop retired by its last operator, Piedmont Airlines (PT, Salisbury), in 2018, according to the ch-aviation fleets advanced module. It was reactivated on November 1 for a test flight around its storage site, Roswell, and then ferried to Oklahoma City Will Rogers World on December 3, Flightradar24 ADS-B data shows. Lessor Elix Aviation Capital has confirmed that it was delivered to Sherpa Air by December 8.
Sherpa Air says it will focus on providing airlift to both private and government/military customers. As such, N333EN will be based out of Georgetown County Airport, South Carolina.
The airline did not respond to ch-aviation’s request for comment on whether it plans to add more aircraft to its fleet.
