Västflyg Adds Bromma–Visby Route, Boosts Stockholm Presence

Swedish virtual airline Västflyg plans to expand its operations at Stockholm Bromma Airport with a new route to Visby, expected to launch before the summer. The airline said it is targeting around 50 weekly departures on the route. This announcement follows its earlier plan to begin flights between Stockholm Bromma and Växjö in June, offering 24 weekly services.
Västflyg remains committed to Bromma Airport, despite the city council’s intention to close the centrally located Stockholm airport by 2038. The airline is currently the only commercial carrier operating from Bromma, with service between Trollhättan and the airport. These flights are operated by Estonian carrier NyxAir under its OJ code.
The new Växjö route is already available for booking and is set to begin on June 2. However, the Visby route is not yet bookable.
Västflyg CEO Anna Petre emphasized the strategic importance of Bromma in connecting southern Sweden to the capital, noting that all flights will operate with a maximum possible blend of biofuel to support sustainability goals.
The Bromma–Visby route is being backed by several Gotland-based investors, including Gotlandsbolaget, Tofta Intressenter, ICA Maxi Visby, SweProd AB, Ulixxes AB, and entrepreneur Sakarias Ronquist.
According to Västflyg’s website and ADS-B tracking data, two NyxAir Saab 340B aircraft are flying on behalf of the virtual airline: ES-NSC (msn 340B-248), currently in service, and ES-NSK (msn 340B-169), which has been in maintenance since late March. All flights continue to operate under NyxAir’s airline code.
