Venerable Venetian hotel readied for restoration, additions

A five-star hotel on Venice’s Grand Canal that dates to 1880 will close for extensive renovation with a planned reopening in 2025 under management by Rosewood Hotels & Resorts. The iconic family-owned Bauer Hotel will sport an array of new features such as upscale retail space and an outdoor pool after a makeover that will preserve its Gothic-Byzantine facade, grand winding staircase and other distinctive features.
