Vietjet, Vietnam’s largest private airline, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Airbus for 100 A321neo single-aisle aircraft, with an option for 50 more. The agreement, announced at the 2025 Paris Air Show, was signed by Vietjet CEO Dinh Viet Phuong and Airbus EVP of Commercial Aircraft Sales, Benoît de Saint-Exupéry.

Vietjet Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao described the deal as a major milestone in the airline’s strategic partnership with Airbus. She emphasized the role of modern, fuel-efficient aircraft in making air travel more accessible and in supporting Vietjet’s growth as a multinational aviation group.

The order follows a recent agreement for additional A330neo widebody aircraft, signaling Vietjet’s dual focus on regional and long-haul expansion. Airbus noted that the A321neo and A330neo offer strong technical commonality, enabling operational efficiency across Vietjet’s growing network.

Vietjet currently operates a fleet of over 100 Airbus aircraft and continues to modernize its operations. The A321neo, the largest member of the A320neo family, offers extended range, improved fuel efficiency, and reduced noise—delivering over 20% fuel savings and 50% lower noise levels compared to previous-generation single-aisle jets.

As of May 2025, more than 7,000 A321neo aircraft have been ordered by over 90 airlines worldwide. The aircraft is certified to operate with up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), with a goal of reaching 100% SAF capability by 2030.
