Virgin Voyages Unveils AI-Powered Mermaid Film Series

Virgin Voyages has launched a new AI-powered short film series, The Mermaids: A Virgin Voyages Tale, bringing its iconic mermaids to life with voice and personality. Developed with creative agency Native Foreign, the series uses AI technology to create a cinematic narrative that reflects the cruise line’s unique brand identity focused on emotional connection and personal transformation.

The four mermaids—Scarlet, Valiant, Resilient, and Brilliant—symbolize passion, courage, resilience, and wisdom, embodying the spirit behind each of Virgin Voyages’ Lady Ships. The film follows the “Mother of the Mystic Seas,” who unites each mermaid’s story into a single narrative, capturing the essence of travelers’ experiences at sea.

“The story we’ve been telling since day one has always been about more than travel; it’s been about transformation,” said Bailey Edwards, Editorial Director at Virgin Voyages. “This cinematic series allowed us to give voice to our mermaids, connecting emotionally with our Sailors.”

The AI-driven project also marks a shift in Virgin Voyages’ marketing approach. The company now uses AI platforms like Jasper, Canva, OpenAI, and Google Agentspace to streamline content creation and maintain brand consistency across global markets. This helps Virgin Voyages and its First Mates (travel advisors) deliver personalized, emotionally resonant content efficiently.

Currently, Virgin Voyages sails from Miami, Barcelona, Athens, and San Juan, with Brilliant Lady set to debut this fall. The Mermaids series is available on Virgin Voyages’ YouTube channel, with more chapters planned ahead of Brilliant Lady’s September 2025 launch.
