Vistara Enhances Mumbai’s Global Reach with New Paris Route
Vistara, a joint venture between Tata Group and Singapore Airlines, is set to boost its long-haul network from Mumbai by introducing a new service to Paris. This addition strengthens Mumbai’s position as a key international travel hub and expands Vistara’s European connectivity, which already includes routes to Frankfurt and London.
Scheduled to commence on March 28, the new route will connect Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport with Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport. The service will be operated five times per week using Boeing 787-9 aircraft configured in a three-class layout. This move is aligned with Vistara’s strategic focus on enhancing its international presence from Mumbai.
Vistara began its long-haul operations from Mumbai in June 2023 with flights to London Heathrow Airport (LHR), followed by Frankfurt Airport (FRA) in November. The airline currently offers four weekly roundtrips to London and five to Frankfurt, totaling 5,382 two-way weekly seats between Mumbai and Europe. Starting March, the frequency to London Heathrow will increase to daily flights.
In the competitive Mumbai-Paris sector, Vistara will face direct competition from Air France, which operates 10 weekly flights on this route using a mix of Boeing 777-300ER and Airbus A350-900 aircraft. Air France has been serving this connection for over 50 years.
Data from Sabre Market Intelligence indicates that approximately 94,000 one-way passengers traveled from Paris to Mumbai in the first 11 months of 2023, with a significant majority originating from locations beyond Paris.
Vistara, which is undergoing a merger with Tata-owned Air India, currently flies to 18 domestic and 14 international destinations from Mumbai. The airline’s most recent addition from the city is a daily nonstop service to Dubai, operated using Airbus A321 aircraft.
This expansion underscores Vistara’s commitment to enhancing international connectivity from India’s financial capital, offering passengers more options for direct long-haul travel. The new Mumbai-Paris route is poised to cater to the growing demand for travel between these two major cities, fostering stronger business, tourism, and cultural exchanges.
