Vrbo Launches ‘VrboCare’ to Enhance Traveler Booking Protection

Vacation rental platform Vrbo has introduced VrboCare, a new suite of traveler protection policies designed to provide greater confidence and reliability when booking stays. The initiative expands upon the company’s existing Book with Confidence Guarantee, which helps travelers find alternative accommodations if their original reservation falls through.
The new VrboCare policies took effect ahead of the busy Thanksgiving and December holiday travel season and are automatically included with every booking at no additional cost.
“Over time, we’ve seen the industry drift away from what travelers truly value—a consistent, reliable, high-quality experience,” said Larry Plawsky, General Manager of Vrbo. “VrboCare is about rebuilding trust and taking the worry out of trip planning.”
Under the new policy, Vrbo agents will assist travelers facing check-in issues or host cancellations up to 90 days before arrival—an increase from the previous 30-day coverage. The platform has also introduced tools to ensure listing accuracy, addressing a major concern among travelers.
New badges now highlight top-performing properties and reliable hosts, including a “Loved by Guests” designation for rentals with ratings of 9.4 or higher. Criteria for Vrbo’s Premier Host status have also become more stringent, now requiring a 99% acceptance rate, a 0% cancellation rate, and an average rating above 9.2 for each listed property.
In addition, Vrbo has launched several new AI-driven features, including smart review summaries, AI-curated property highlights, and an automated Q&A tool that extracts answers from guest feedback. Reviews will now include guest photos, offering travelers a more authentic look at properties.
“These updates ensure that travelers know Vrbo has their back before and during their stay,” Plawsky said, emphasizing the company’s renewed focus on safety, transparency, and peace of mind.
