W New York – Union Square has completed a $100 million transformation, unveiling a dramatic redesign that touches nearly every corner of the property. The renovation updates the hotel’s Grand Staircase, Living Room, guestrooms, suites, meeting spaces, and fitness center, while also introducing new dining and social venues.

Among the most anticipated additions are the 17th-floor rooftop bar, offering sweeping city views, and the Living Room Café, a first for the brand. By day, the café serves Devoción coffee; by night, it transitions into a cocktail lounge. A new restaurant, Seafood Brasserie, will debut this fall under the direction of John McDonald and Mercer Street Hospitality, known for concepts like Lure Fishbar and Bowery Meat Company.

The hotel’s 270 rooms and suites now feature bold color palettes of green, orange, and gray, along with subtle nods to New York City. Design elements include subway lamp-inspired light fixtures, bike chain details, chessboard-patterned side tables, and bathrooms with gridline tiles. The expansive Penthouse Suite spans 1,215 square feet, with separate living areas, a curved wood bar, and floor-to-ceiling city views.

The Grand Staircase has also been reimagined, featuring a cascading abstract carpet design framed by lush botanicals and contrasted with black-and-white houndstooth seating.

George Fleck, W Hotels’ senior vice president and global brand leader, called the relaunch a milestone: “This flagship reintroduction is about more than honoring our legacy – it’s about leading the next chapter of what a luxury lifestyle brand can be.”
