WestJet Expands Latin America, Caribbean Routes for Winter 2025

WestJet is expanding its network across Latin America and the Caribbean for the 2025–26 winter season, adding five new destinations and several new routes while boosting international connectivity from its Calgary hub.
The airline will operate 305 routes to 62 sun destinations this winter, with a 3% increase in departures year over year. Overall capacity will remain steady as aircraft from Sunwing and Swoop are reconfigured to WestJet’s standard layout.
New destinations joining the network include Panama City (Panama), Guadalajara and Riviera Nayarit (Mexico), Havana (Cuba), and Managua (Nicaragua). Seasonal service is also being added to Liberia (Costa Rica), Puerto Plata and Samana (Dominican Republic), and Mexico City will now be served year-round.
Key new routes include Calgary–Panama City (4X weekly from Dec. 13), Calgary–Guadalajara (2X weekly from Dec. 7), and Calgary–Riviera Nayarit (1X weekly from Dec. 13). Toronto–Havana and Montreal–Managua launch Dec. 18 with two and one weekly flights, respectively.
Additional routes include Calgary to Cozumel and Puerto Plata, Vancouver and Winnipeg to Liberia, and Quebec City to Montego Bay and San Andres. Thunder Bay will also gain seasonal service to Punta Cana.
Beyond its sun destinations, WestJet will increase transpacific service with daily Calgary–Tokyo Narita flights, up from three per week, representing an 18% increase in intercontinental capacity.
Seat capacity across Latin America and the Caribbean will grow by 6% this winter, and WestJet will expand cargo operations in response to demand in key sectors such as perishables and automotive goods.
