The state of California returned a beachfront property to a Black family that was stripped of the land in 1924 when officials seized the land from Willa and Charles Bruce. From 1912 until it was seized in 1924, it was known as Bruce’s Beach had a lodge, dance hall, cafe and dressing tents.
