What’s New in Los Angeles for Visitors This Summer?
One of West Coast’s most in-demand destinations is gearing up to welcome tourists coming from around the nation, even around the globe, as the busy summer travel season approaches. And, it’s hard to imagine any place more iconic when it comes to summer fun than the world-famous cultural and entertainment mecca known as Los Angeles.
A vast and varied collection of fresh experiences are springing up in the City of Angels this season, so even devotee repeat visitors will find they still have plenty of captivating new options to experience for the first time.
We’re talking about lists that include multiple just-launched hotel properties, a plethora of newly opened restaurants, major sporting events, attractions and entertainment offerings, social happenings and venues, outdoor and wellness-related activities, a myriad of fascinating art exhibits and cultural experiences, numerous venues’ ongoing anniversary celebrations and the completion of some highly anticipated developments at LAX, including a new people mover.
The hub of the filmmaking industry since its inception, Tinseltown entered into the so-called Golden Age of cinema nearly a century ago now, and a couple of iconic area attractions are therefore celebrating their 100th anniversaries this year: Warner Bros. Studios and The Hollywood Sign itself.
Warner Bros. Studios is celebrating its Centennial with a new exhibit that explores the movie studio’s impact on storytelling, featuring a mix of classic and contemporary films and franchises, including Casablanca, DC Comics, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Abbott Elementary and more. At the same time, the Warner Bros. Studio Tour is commemorating its 50th anniversary with through a photographic exploration of its origins, open to the public in its Welcome Center area.
A pair of new Marriott-owned properties, Moxy Downtown Los Angeles and AC Hotel Downtown Los Angeles, just opened their doors in mid-April, offering a total of 727 guestrooms, and featuring an unprecedented 13 dining and entertainment options. The famous thoroughfare of Sunset Boulevard also welcomed a new hotel on June 1, as the Palihotel Hollywood opened with 74 rooms and suites, and a design inspired by the excitement and charm of vintage Hollywood.
Several major sporting events are set to take place in L.A. this summer, including the 123rd edition of the U.S. Open Championship for the first time in 75 years. From June 12 – 18, the LA Country Club, whose grounds have been in operation for over 100 years, will play host to golf fans and the world’s best players. For soccer fans, L.A.’s world-renowned SoFi Stadium will host the 2023 Concacaf Gold Cup Final men’s national team competition on July 16, wrapping up two months of elite football matches in the region.
