What’s On the Horizon for Hermes Airports in Cyprus

Hermes Airports, the operator of Cyprus’ Larnaka (LCA) and Pafos (PFO) airports, recorded 8.6 million passengers in 2024—a 6% year-over-year increase. In the first half of 2025 alone, passenger traffic surpassed 5.6 million, up 11% from the same period last year, driven by rising travel demand and Cyprus’ growing appeal as a year-round destination.
For summer 2025, over 150 routes are being operated by 55 airlines to 39 countries. Notable new services from Larnaka include Saudia to Riyadh, Cyprus Airways to Venice, and Aegean Airlines to Rome. SkyUp Airlines has resumed flights, adding five Central and Eastern European destinations. Wizz Air will expand further this year with new routes to Barcelona, Chisinau, Tirana, Suceava, and Timisoara.
At Pafos, Transavia has launched a new route to Lyon, while flights to Yerevan begin in October.
Speaking at Routes Europe 2025 in Seville, Maria Kouroupi, Hermes Airports’ director of aviation development, outlined three strategic priorities: closing gaps in unserved markets such as Spain, enhancing hub connectivity (e.g., Brussels), and boosting year-round traffic. Winter 2024-25 traffic rose 8%, the highest on record, with off-peak travel now making up 25% of annual volume.
Infrastructure upgrades are underway at both airports to support growth. Larnaka’s capacity will increase to 12.4 million, and Pafos to 5 million annually. New security, immigration, and aircraft parking areas are part of the plans.
As a Routes 360 member, Hermes Airports continues to showcase its route development potential and opportunities for new airline partnerships.
