Windstar Cruises is accelerating its booking process for spring 2027 Japan sailings in response to overwhelming demand for its 2026 Japan itineraries. Additionally, the company is introducing an extra fall departure to accommodate the surge in interest, ensuring more travelers can experience their unique Japan cruises.

“Just months after announcing our 2026 plans in Japan, we’re nearly sold out,” said Janet Bava, Chief Commercial Officer of Windstar Cruises. She attributed the high demand to the company’s return to Asia for the first time since 2023, the excitement surrounding the new ship, and Japan’s status as one of the world’s most visited countries. These factors have created a level of enthusiasm for the region that Windstar has not seen before.

The Japan voyages will be operated aboard Windstar’s new Star Seeker, which is slated to debut in December 2025. Following a summer season in Alaska, the Star Seeker will embark on its Pacific crossing to Japan in September 2026. The ship will offer five sailings in Japan through October 2026 and return in spring 2027 with seven departures from March through May. This strategic scheduling aligns perfectly with the emerging trend of coolcations, where travelers seek cooler destinations amidst increasingly hot summers.

One of the standout offerings is the 10-night “Grand Japan” itinerary, which sails from Tokyo to Kyoto. This journey allows travelers to enjoy scenic sailing in the Inland Sea, explore the abandoned island of Hashima, and visit the Peace Memorial Parks of Nagasaki and Hiroshima. Additionally, the itinerary includes stops at smaller ports like Takamatsu and Karatsu, providing a blend of major landmarks and off-the-beaten-path experiences.

For those eager to delve deeper into Japanese culture, Windstar offers the “Kyoto & the Zen of Japan” cruise tour as an add-on. This extension provides guests with the opportunity to experience traditional hot springs, participate in a tea ceremony, and visit the iconic Golden Pavilion, enhancing their cultural immersion and overall cruise experience.

To celebrate the early booking launch, Windstar Cruises is offering an enticing promotion for bookings made between now and February 28, 2025. Guests who book early can benefit from complimentary WiFi, gratuities, unlimited beer, wine, and cocktails, and a €100 credit per person preloaded onto their CelestyalPay tab on select sailings. The promotion requires only a 15 percent deposit, with the final payment due 120 days before sailing, making it an attractive option for early planners.

Janet Bava emphasized that the introduction of Star Seeker, with its modern amenities and luxurious accommodations, is expected to further boost Windstar’s appeal among travelers seeking both adventure and comfort. “The combination of our return to Asia, the anticipation of a new ship, and Japan’s popularity has created an unprecedented excitement for this region,” she said.

Windstar Cruises’ strategic move to expand its Japan offerings aligns with broader industry trends towards destination-focused itineraries that offer unique cultural and experiential elements. By aligning its sailings with these trends, Windstar is poised to attract a diverse range of travelers, from history enthusiasts and culture seekers to those simply looking to relax and explore the beauty of Japan’s coastal regions.

As Windstar Cruises continues to grow its presence in Asia, the company remains dedicated to providing exceptional service, innovative cruise experiences, and unforgettable memories for its guests. With the early booking launch for 2027 Japan sailings, Windstar is setting the stage for a successful and vibrant future in one of the world’s most beloved travel destinations.
