Windstar Cruises has officially opened bookings for its newest luxury vessel, Star Seeker, set to debut on December 28, 2025. The 112-suite ship will embark on its inaugural season with voyages around the Caribbean, Alaska, and Japan. Star Seeker’s maiden voyage will depart from Málaga, Spain, offering a transatlantic cruise that includes a stop in Santa Cruz de Tenerife for New Year’s Eve before concluding in Miami, Florida.

Star Seeker is the first of two new ships joining the Windstar fleet, with its sister ship, Star Explorer, scheduled for a December 2026 launch. On its maiden voyage, Star Seeker will sail across the Atlantic, celebrating New Year’s Eve in the Canary Islands, where it will rendezvous with Windstar’s Wind Star ship.

The inaugural journey ends in Miami on January 13, 2026, where Windstar will host a christening ceremony featuring a yet-to-be-announced godmother or godfather to conduct the traditional Champagne bottle breaking. Windstar will also hold special invitation-only events, including ship tours and celebrations for media, travel advisors, and partners.

Star Seeker’s first post-christening voyage departs on January 15, 2026, for an 8-day Caribbean cruise from Miami to San Juan. Stops will include the Dominican Republic and the British Virgin Islands. The ship will remain in the Caribbean for a brief period before heading through the Panama Canal and then north to Alaska.

“We’re thrilled to sail Star Seeker through the Caribbean before it ventures on to Alaska and Japan,” said Windstar Cruises president Christopher Prelog. “Star Seeker likely won’t return to the Caribbean, so it’s a special opportunity for fans of the region to experience this new ship.”

Windstar has planned celebratory events in the Caribbean, including a sunset sailing parade past the Pitons in St. Lucia, featuring other ships from the Windstar fleet, such as Wind Spirit and Star Pride.

For the repositioning cruise from the Caribbean to Alaska, travelers can choose from several options. Guests can sail from San Juan to Juneau (49 days), Costa Rica to Juneau (25 days), or Mexico to Juneau (17 days). Upon arrival, Star Seeker will remain in Alaska from May to August 2026, offering two main itineraries. Travelers can choose between 7- or 8-day “Scenic Alaska” cruises or extended 10-, 11-, or 12-day “Alaskan Splendor” voyages. These itineraries will sail between Vancouver, B.C., and Juneau, Alaska. Additionally, Windstar offers five-day inland tours through Denali National Park for those seeking to explore further.

The ship will also feature Windstar’s “Signature Expedition” program, including activities such as kayaking from the watersports platform and exploring Alaska’s natural beauty on small RIB boats. Expedition guides will be on board to give presentations on Alaska’s environment, history, and culture.

After spending the summer in Alaska, Star Seeker will head to Japan in September 2026. Windstar’s popular “Grand Japan” cruise will return, with four departures scheduled through October. Travelers can also add a three-day inland exploration of Osaka and Kyoto.

With Star Seeker joining the fleet, Windstar Cruises returns to Alaska and Japan after a three-year hiatus and is currently developing itineraries for Southeast Asia.
