Wizz Air A321neo performs incredibly low landing in Greece
A view of an aircraft passing incredibly low seconds before landing may not surprise an experienced plane spotter. However, for some people, it could be an unforgettable sight.
Holidaymakers who visited the Greek island of Skiathos on August 5, 2022, became witnesses of an extraordinary scene. A Wizz Air Airbus A321neo performed an incredibly low landing on a short and narrow runway of Alexandros Papadiamantis Airport (JSI). Dozens of spectators held their breath while observing the plane’s final approach to the island.
One of the witnesses recorded a video outside the restricted airport’s area, where s/he captured how the brand new Wizz Air passenger jet narrowly missed the tops of people’s heads while landing. A gust of air from the plane engines even made spectators back away from the spotting side.
The A321neo aircraft on the video is one of the newest Hungarian airline planes, which joined the Wizz Air fleet in July 2022.
According to Planespotters.com data, the jet registered HA-LZT has been flying for less than a month. On July 20, 2022, around two weeks after its first flight, the plane was ferried from the Airbus plant at Hamburg Finkenwerder Airport (XFW) in Germany on delivery to its owner Wizz Air. The jet was leased from Ireland-based lessor Dynam Aviation.
