Wizz Air has announced a major UK-Spain expansion with the launch of five new routes from London Luton Airport (LTN) to key Spanish cities, marking the carrier’s first Spain-bound services operated from its UK base. Starting March 29, 2026, the new routes will connect Luton with Barcelona, Madrid, Bilbao, Valencia, and Seville, timed to coincide with the beginning of the summer season.

The new services will offer strong frequency across the board: up to 10 flights per week to Barcelona, daily service to Madrid-Barajas, five weekly flights to both Bilbao and Valencia, and four weekly flights to Seville. These routes are designed to appeal to both leisure and business travelers, reinforcing Wizz Air’s growing footprint in Western Europe and targeting high-demand city pairs between the UK and Spain.

Wizz Air already has a significant presence in Spain, serving the market primarily from its Eastern European bases. According to data from the Spanish Ministry of Transportation, Wizz Air transported more than 7.2 million passengers to and from Spanish airports in 2024 through its Hungarian and Maltese subsidiaries. The newly added UK-Spain routes expand Wizz’s reach in the market, introducing new point-to-point options for travelers from the UK.

The move comes shortly after Wizz Air announced its exit from Abu Dhabi, with the carrier choosing to redeploy capacity to its core European markets, including the UK and Poland. Just days before the Spain announcement, Wizz Air also revealed plans to return to Warsaw-Modlin Airport (WMI) in Poland after a 13-year hiatus. Starting December 2025, Wizz will base two Airbus A321 aircraft at WMI and launch service to 11 destinations in eight countries.

New routes from Modlin will include flights to Barcelona, Athens, Bergen, Bergamo, Chisinau, Paphos, Malta, Sofia, Brindisi, Palermo, and Alghero. The dual announcements highlight Wizz Air’s renewed focus on strengthening its European network and capitalizing on high-growth travel corridors within the continent.

As the airline pivots away from the Middle East and back to its European roots, its UK and Central European bases are poised for continued expansion, reinforcing Wizz Air’s competitive position in the low-cost European travel market.
