Woman Faces 20 Years After Flight Outburst

A Las Vegas woman is facing federal charges after an alleged mid-flight outburst led to her being duct-taped to her seat on an American Airlines flight. According to an FBI affidavit, 38-year-old Ketty J. Dilone became disruptive during a September 16 flight from Charlotte, North Carolina, to Las Vegas, after the aircraft had originated in Punta Cana.
Witnesses said Dilone began walking the aisle while recording passengers and crew members, ignoring repeated instructions to stop. Her behavior escalated when she allegedly threatened flight attendants, shouting, “I will kill you,” and making aggressive gestures toward crew.
The situation quickly deteriorated, prompting flight attendants and volunteer passengers to physically restrain her. Dilone was placed in flex-cuffs, and when she continued resisting, crew members used duct tape to secure her torso to the seat. The affidavit noted that her legs were later taped as well after she kicked a flight attendant twice, causing injury.
Because of the disruption, flight attendants were unable to fully prepare the cabin for landing, relying on passengers to help monitor her until the plane arrived at Harry Reid International Airport. Upon landing, Dilone was taken into custody and charged with interfering with a flight crew and assault.
She appeared in federal court on September 17, where records state she was “fully restrained” during the hearing. Following the session, she experienced a medical episode and was hospitalized. A preliminary hearing is set for October 1, and if convicted, she could face up to 20 years in prison.
