Wyndham Expands Reach with $44M Vienna House Acquisition
Wyndham Hotels & Resorts has acquired the Vienna House brand in a $44 million deal with the HR Group, a European hotel operator and longstanding partner, the company announced Thursday. The HR Group will continue to lease, own, and operate existing Vienna House properties still under long-term franchise agreements.
The deal adds nearly 40 hotels in the European market—28 in Germany alone—and more than 6,000 rooms to Wyndham’s portfolio, which previously counted 9,000 hotels in more than 95 countries.
“Europe continues to present accelerating growth for the travel sector with strong demand steadily bouncing back across leisure and business,” said Wyndham president and CEO Geoff Ballotti in a statement.
Once finalized, the Vienna House brand officially will be known as Vienna House by Wyndham, alongside Wyndham’s 23 brands, including La Quinta, Wyndham, Baymont, Ramada and Trademark Collection.
The move also positions the Vienna House brand for growth, utilizing Wyndham’s marketing capabilities.
“Vienna House’s guest-centric culture, strong brand recognition and ambitious brand development plans align with our distribution goals, making it a perfect match to continue our international growth and reinforces our position and commitment to the region,” said Ballotti.
Wyndham’s combined European portfolio now boasts over 400 hotels across more than 30 countries.
