A Ural Airlines Airbus A320, with 159 passengers onboard, was involved in an emergency landing in a Siberian field. The aircraft was en route from the Black Sea town of Sochi to Omsk in Siberia when the incident occurred. Russian officials have reported that all passengers and the six crew members escaped the incident without injuries.

The aircraft, a Russian passenger Airbus A320, was flying from the Black Sea resort of Sochi to the Siberian city of Omsk with 167 people on board when it was forced to make an emergency landing in a Siberian field. Western sanctions imposed over Moscow’s Ukraine offensive have significantly impacted Russia’s aviation industry.

Russian authorities have released footage showing the Ural Airlines plane in a field near a forest in the Novosibirsk region. Thankfully, there were no casualties reported. Passengers and crew members could be seen standing outside the aircraft, which had deployed its emergency slides.

The emergency landing occurred successfully at 05:44 Moscow time (0244 GMT) and was carried out on a designated site near the village of Kamenka in Siberia’s Novosibirsk region. According to Moscow’s aviation agency, Rosaviatsia, there were 159 passengers and six crew members onboard.

All passengers have been accommodated in the nearest village, and none of them required medical assistance. Russia’s Investigative Committee has initiated a criminal case concerning the violation of air traffic safety rules, citing a “technical reason” for the emergency landing.

Russia’s aviation industry has been facing difficulties in acquiring new parts for plane repairs due to Western sanctions. Ural Airlines, based in Yekaterinburg, is a domestic Russian airline.
