2 top NYC hotels will reopen in wake of pay ordinance

The grim New York City hospitality picture has brightened with news that two of the city’s largest hotels, the New York Hilton Midtown and the Grand Hyatt, will reopen within weeks. A city ordinance enacted just last week requires severance pay for hotel workers laid off during the pandemic, but exempts hotels that reopen and rehire a portion of staff by certain dates.
