Skyline Editorial: One of the hallmarks of a traveler is curiosity

Share

One of the hallmarks of a traveler, I always say, is curiosity. Curiosity about the world beyond your doorstep, about cultures different from your own, about how societies and the planet are changing. Travel opens our eyes and gives us greater insight into the world; I know it has made me a wiser, more understanding, and, yes, an even more curious person.

As editors, we at Frequent Flyer Destinations & AirGuide are also perpetually curious about the places that define a moment in time, those that capture our collective imagination and suddenly seem to be on everyone’s travel list. We always have to go beyond the obvious, we must explore beyond the mundane, discover the hidden treasure.

In our Fall issue, we uncover the astonishing fact that “Very few airlines offer free Wi-Fi on a flight.” Hard to believe in this globally wired world we live in! Most airlines are trying to squeeze every dollar out of every passenger instead of making it complimentary as it’s done in most hotels. The “Best US airline reward programs” in Voyager weed out the good, the bad, and the ugly.

We “Discover Tokyo in 24 hours,” go down under, and experience “Spring in New Zealand” since it’s Fall for us. Emre helps us discover one of the oldest cities of Europe in “The City that Rose from Ashes: Warsaw”; Natalie and Greg are “Cowboy for a Day”; Stephen goes tropical in “It’s oh so clear in the Cayman Islands”, exploring the Cayman Islands.

Our travel editors give us practical travel tips in “Must-have Apps for the global traveler,” “Resolutions to improve your Frequent Flyer Lifestyle,” or even “Packing like a Boss,” or “What to eat in San Diego.” Mandy is a “City Wanderer” giving us solutions for urban roaming.
Female chefs make waves creating delightful feasts in “Women serve it up hot in the Caribbean,” and Alexandra tells us about bars and restaurants themed after their famous counterparts in “Wander the big screen.”

We’ll be making some exciting changes at Frequent Flyer & AirGuide over the coming months. We will be available at even more airlines, airports, and destination hotels globally. I hope this issue gives you fresh reasons to hop over and connect with the “joie de vivre” that, for me, will be one of its defining qualities.

Please send me a note at feedback@AirGuideOnline. com if there’s anything you would or wouldn’t like to see from us as we evolve—but you can be certain we will remain as committed as ever to sparking the curiosity that inspires you to hit the road. I can’t wait to see where we’ll go together.
