Nigeria’s Allied Air takes first B737-800(F)
Allied Air (4W, Lagos) took delivery of its first B737-800(SF), N846AG (msn 36846), which has also become the world’s youngest converted freighter of the type. The 13.1-year-old narrowbody was delivered to and operated throughout its service life as a passenger aircraft by Jet Airways (JAI, Mumbai Int’l). It was converted by Aeronautical Engineers, Inc. (AEI) at the Commercial Jet heavy maintenance facility at Miami Int’l and subsequently painted by Commercial Jet at Dothan airport. Allied Air contracted AEI for two converted B737-800 freighters with a further two options in March 2020. The Nigerian cargo specialist currently operates three B737-400(F)s. It is set to become the first operator of the B737-800(SF) freighters in Africa once the aircraft enters into service.
