Krasnodar international Airport is ready to deal with fog

Krasnodar International Airport named after Catherine II announces the receipt of the Category II Certificate of ICAO for the airfield for landing in heavy fog. Last week, on October 23, 2020, the Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya) issued permission to land aircraft in low visibility conditions in Krasnodar airport. According to the notification, the second category for a precision instrument approach is assigned to the airfield of the Kuban gateway.

Last week, on October 23, 2020, the Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya) issued permission to land aircraft in low visibility conditions in Krasnodar airport. According to the notification, the second category for a precision instrument approach is assigned to the airfield of the Kuban gateway.

This insures that aircraft can land at Krasnodar airport in fog conditions with a visibility range on the runway of at least 300 meters and a decision height of at least 30 meters. These criteria are twice as high as previously available permissions.

In Krasnodar, the most “foggy” period is the autumn-winter months. A second category assignment minimizes delays or cancellations of flights in low visibility conditions. The number of delays due to weather conditions at Krasnodar airport will decrease. Thus, the time spent by passengers in the terminal will be reduced.

Krasnodar International Airport would like to clarify that the final decision to land in fog, heavy rain and snow is taken by the airline and personally by the pilot in command. The pilot must have an appropriate meteorological minimum for takeoff and landing in low visibility conditions.

Let us remind that Krasnodar International Airport was included in the list of border checkpoints through which foreign tourists will be able to enter using an electronic visa. The directive is effective from 1 January 2021.
