Hotel occupancy rate fell to 44% in 2020

US hotel occupancy declined from 66% in 2019 to 44% in 2020, and the industry surpassed 1 billion unsold room nights, according to STR. Occupancy rates could remain lower than 2019 levels through 2024, analysts say.
