American manager shares importance of amplifying history

American Airlines’ Diversity & Inclusion Manager, Kian Hervey, shared about the impact of past generations on her identity and understanding of Black history. Hervey drew personal connections with Ta-Nehisi Coates’ “The Water Dancer,” seeing her own family’s history reflected through another story. “Sharing our stories, listening to experiences different from our own, is how we honor our commitment to create and sustain meaningful change. Black history is a living, breathing thing. And celebrating it this month, sharing our stories, is how we begin to “be better,” Hervey writes.
