San Francisco hotel program for homeless may get boost

Five members of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors have proposed adding 500 hotel rooms to the 1,850 now available to people facing homelessness during the pandemic. A federal funding increase has reduced the county’s cost for the shelter-in-place (SIP) program from a reported $18 million per month to an estimated $3 million for this entire fiscal year.
