Polar Bear Hotel in Harbin, China, features Polar Bears

The Polar Bear Hotel — with a polar bear viewing from its 21 rooms — opened recently as part of the Harbin Polarland theme park in China’s Heilongjiang province. Already, the hotel is fully booked during a trial period. A Harbin Polarland spokeswoman says that the polar bears are allowed outdoors when air quality and temperature permit and that the indoor space is only part of the animals’ entire habitat. Yet, an animal welfare group claims polar bears don’t belong in hotels.
