Hawaiian CEO: Loosen interisland testing mandate

Hawaiian Airlines CEO Peter Ingram said Hawaii should drop coronavirus testing requirements for interisland travel while keeping them for incoming passengers and considering the use of vaccine passports. “If you think back to August, when those restrictions went in place again, it was a time when we were having over 300 cases a day in Oahu, (and) the positivity rate was far higher in Oahu than the rest of the state,” Ingram said, but rates for the island, which includes Honolulu, are now “almost entirely in line with the state average” and new cases “are almost entirely community-spread” rather than “travel-related.”
