A number of retail outlets at Aberdeen International Airport are set to reopen.

Following discussions with business partners at the north-east’s major transport hub, the World Duty Free store will open on Monday (April 26).

The popular Distilling House at the airport will also open from Wednesday, (April 28) providing passengers with a wide range of hot food and refreshments.  As per national hospitality restrictions, alcohol will not be permitted to be served until 17th May.

The following week on May 6, the WH Smith arrivals store landside will also reopen. It is the first landside retail store to reopen at the airport in more than a year catering for both arriving/departing passengers as well as staff in surrounding area.

World Duty Free (WDF) was recently doubled in size as part of the terminals £20 million terminal transformation project.

WDF will open at 0400 every day from Monday with plenty of offers on hand for passengers.

The store has had a makeover since it was last open to passengers on Christmas Eve 2020, and in line with Brexit legislation, passengers leaving the UK can now benefit from Duty Free offers on a variety of products in store, with up to 50% off high street prices across many liquor brands as well as a variety of 3 for 2 deals available.

If you are travelling within the UK you can still take advantage of the great money saving offers on perfume, cosmetics and gifts.

Our retail partners have put safety measures in stores so passengers can browse freely and safely. This includes signage to help passengers respect physical distancing and screens being installed.

Mark Beveridge, operations director of Aberdeen International Airport, said: “As we ease out of lockdown we have increased our focus on maintaining public safety and that of our staff through the introduction of a series of enhanced safety measures.

“Bringing back business safely remains a key priority and we are looking forward to our business partners reopening at our terminal. While it is critical that we re-emerge with strong connectivity it is also key that the passengers using our airport have access to as many of the facilities possible within the terminal and feel safe to do so.”

Jemma Cumming, commercial manager at Aberdeen International Airport, said: “We have been working hard with our retail partners to reopen outlets at our terminal.

“This will offer passengers more choice while keeping them safe throughout our airport.  As we welcome back more of our partners we would like to recognise our teams in WH Smith and Boots who have remained open to serve those essential travellers passing through the airport throughout this latest lockdown.

“We look forward to welcoming back our retails partners who have been working non-stop over the past couple of weeks to get ready and look forward to more re-openings in the coming weeks ahead.”
