Hotel idea for homeless still alive in Austin, Texas

A homelessness abatement plan by the City of Austin, Texas, includes the possible purchase of the Candlewood Suites, despite a lawsuit opposing the move. The hotel reportedly would have 80 rooms available as early as August, while a tentative city goal is to acquire housing space for 3,000 people by 2024.
