Canada’s Air North adds first ATR freighter
Air North (4N, Whitehorse Int’l) has added its first non-quick-change (QC) dedicated freighter in the form of an ATR42-300(F). C-FVGY (msn 273) was registered in Canada on May 7, 2021, but remains in storage in Kelowna ahead of its induction into service. The Avions de Transport Régional turboprop was retired by ASL Airlines Ireland (ABR, Dublin Int’l) on April 1, 2021, and subsequently ferried over to Canada on April 7 and 8, 2021. It will join Air North’s existing fleet of one ATR42-300 and two ATR42-300(QC)s, as well as one B737-400 and four B737-500s. The carrier is planning to renew its narrowbody fleet in the future. It occasionally deploys all of its aircraft, including the ones in passenger configurations, on all-cargo flights in northern Canada.
