Alaska CEO touts “dramatic” airline recovery
Alaska Airlines should return to profitability in the third quarter of 2021, said CEO Ben Minicucci, as vaccination has pushed leisure bookings back to pre-pandemic demand. “I’ve been in this industry for 25 years — I’ve never seen such a dramatic swing and financial recovery,” Minicucci said. Business travel is still lagging for the carrier, Minicucci added, reaching 25% of pre-pandemic demand with a projected recovery building into 2022.
