IATA: Action required to reopen US-UK travel

IATA’s Director General Willie Walsh urged leaders to reopen the US and UK market, which have suffered “enormous economic and social consequences” while closed. Walsh emphasized that the aviation industry is skilled at managing risk, and science has highlighted the low risk of infection along with high rates of vaccination in the two countries. Walsh advocated that “they should announce that July 4th will be a real “Independence Day” not just for the domestic United States, but a symbol to the world that the US is opening for business — no more talk. No more “task forces.” Action is what is required.”
