UPS CEO: Success came from empowering employees

Investing in speeding up deliveries and eliminating bureaucratic obstacles were key to improving the bottom line when she took over the leadership of UPS, CEO Carol Tome said in an interview. She also cited initiatives to “empower” employees, both by giving them more autonomy to innovate and changing appearance standards to facilitate “bringing one’s authentic self to work.”
