United’s N.Y. strategy focuses on Newark hub

United Airlines’ New York City strategy is focused across the river in New Jersey, where the airline plans to resume a schedule of 430 daily departures at its Newark Liberty International Airport hub by November. “If you compare the summer of 2022 versus the summer of 2019, we have 30 more widebody jets at our disposal, again, than we did in the pre-pandemic schedule,” said COO Andrew Nocella, who indicated that many new routes would depart from Newark.
