New York’s Atlas Air concludes B767-200(BDSF) ops
Atlas Air (5Y, New York JFK) ended B767-200(BDSF) operations on June 11, 2021, having transferred the last of its units of the type to ABX Air (GB, Wilmington, OH).
The American carrier used to operate nine B767-200(BDSF) dedicated freighters but started gradually retiring the type in October 2020, the ch-aviation fleets advanced module shows. It continued to have four units in its fleet as of May 2021 but ended the operations of three units that month. The last active B767-200(BDSF) in Atlas Air’s fleet, N651GT (msn 22570), operated its last revenue flight from Baltimore Thurgood Marshall to Cincinnati Int’l on June 11. The aircraft was subsequently transferred to ABX Air and became active, albeit only for test flights so far, for the new operator on July 10, Flightradar24 ADS-B data shows. Atlas Air operated the aircraft on behalf of DHL Worldwide Express, which also owned the aircraft.
ABX Air, which is a subsidiary of Air Transport Services Group and used to be an affiliate of DHL as Airborne Express, already operated one B767-200(BDSF), eleven B767-200(SF)s (including five for DHL Express and six for Amazon.com), and eight B767-300(ERBDSF)s (all on behalf of DHL).
Following the retirement of the B767-200(BDSF) freighters, Atlas Air continues to operate seven B747-400s, two B747-400(BCF)s, two B747-400(BDSF)s, two B747-400(ERF)s, twenty-four B747-400(FSCD)s, four B747-400(LCF)s, ten B747-8(F)s, six B767-300(ER)s, eight B767-300(ERBCF)s, fourteen B767-300(ERBDSF)s, and two B767-300Fs.
