Ryanair, Italy’s No.1 airline, today (27th July) announced it will further expand its presence at Malpensa Airport, with 1 additional based aircraft for the Winter season (8 in total). This will represent a total investment of $100m in Malpensa and will create 30 additional Ryanair jobs. As vaccination rollouts continue, Europe’s tourism is opening up and Ryanair’s increased connectivity will play a crucial role in the restoration of air traffic in the Milan region these Summer and Winter seasons.

Ryanair’s Malpensa Summer ‘21 schedule will deliver:

  • 7 based aircraft supporting 210 Ryanair jobs
  • 30 routes in total (8 domestic / 22 international)

SEA’s VP Aviation Business Development, Andrea Tucci, said:

“SEA Milan Airports is very pleased with the new investments by Ryanair at Malpensa airport, consisting of an additional aircraft based, new frequencies and new destinations and delivering positive employment impact on our territory.

The partnership between SEA Milan airports and Ryanair goes on generating very important results for Malpensa, such as the full restoration of Ryanair preCovid capacity at the airport and further developments for the future.

Thanks to the recovery of Ryanair and several other carriers, as well as to the measures implemented by SEA to protect passengers in this difficult phase, SEA airport system is growing in terms of route portfolio and is rapidly recovering both capacity, traffic and market share, resulting actually the number one national airport system by volume of passenger traffic in the first half of 2021.”
